La gestion des connaissances est la traduction française du terme "Knowledge Management" (KM). Ce terme peut, selon l'interlocuteur, désigner plusieurs concepts et réalités.

De manière générale, le "Knowledge Management" désigne les démarches mises en œuvre par les organisations pour gérer le savoir de leurs collaborateurs. La gestion des connaissances désigne aussi bien les méthodes et processus mis en place que les technologies utilisées.

La gestion des connaissances rassemble tout ce qui concerne l'identification et la captation des savoirs des collaborateurs, mais également la conservation et la diffusion de ces savoirs et savoirs-faire.
